Not only did the North Shore capture the team trophy for the first time ever, but Anita Botnen a Flicka gymnast took the . over-all title. The 15-year-old finished with a score of 34.55, just ahead of Crissy Sutter of the Pacific Northwest Twisters with 34.30 and Ingrid Bolle- boom of Holland with 34.15. Botnen captured top spot in the uneven bars and balance beam and had a third in floor exercises. Bolleboom, the classy 16- year-old Dutch star, took the vault and the floor exercise w your tires for winter driving: p. BI , program. The win for the North -Shore number one team marks the first time that a Canadian team has taken top honours in the North. Shore Invitational: North Shore . finished ahead of the Puget Sound Rainbows from Tacoma in a squécker. In other major gymnastics news, the North Vancouver Recreation Commission will be giving lover their Memorial gymnasium to Flicka gym club as a full time facility in the near future. Flicka, one of the. better gym clubs in the country, has been searching for larger quarters than SeyLyn Hall, where they are presently located. According to officials, the gym club will soon be moving thousands of dollars of equipment into the rec centre, including the first full-size sprung floor in B.C. that is approved by the Inter- national Federation of Gym- nastics. ay ‘There will also be foam pits. for ‘practicing new moves which eliminates the danger of injury.
