Bus job action siows

NORTH VANCOUVER

drivers refused to work
overtime shifts, a union of-
ficial said Monday.

Union (ICTU) focal | spokesman
Peter Gren said the job action,
which involved BC. Transic drivers
in North Vancouver and Surrey,
was not sanctioned by the union.

Green said that under the terms
of the union’s. collective agrec-
ment, drivers can choose whether
to work overtime.

He said union president Eric
Scott met with workers at the
North Vancouver BC Transit
depot on Monday.

“It’s a problem that has caused
some impatience with our
membership,” said Green,

+The fabor dispute resulted in

seven fewer operators reporting
for work in North Vancouver on
Sunday and Monday.

“This overtime ban is not a
union action. The union has tried
this morning (Monday) to try and
throw a wet blanket on the issue. [
only found out about this late
Friday afternoon,’’ said Green.

But BC Transit president Frank
Dixon said the refusal to work
overtime was an action initiated
by the union.
