Many alse provide one or more snugs — a nook-like space where five or six people can comfortably sequester, and where musicians can play to an audience of a dozen or so, both sitting and standing around the entrance. In pursuit of traditional frish music, our litde band of pub-hoppers sought out ‘The Wandering Labourer in the southern city of Cork. We found it in a dimly lit street not far from the Lee River, which neatly bisects the city. The sign over the door was in Gaslic, with “The Wandering Labourer” in smaller script — bringing to mind the signs in Quebec. Inside it was all [rish-a sprawl- ing, a humming hodgepodge of bars and lounges. We settled into a snug. The trio of musicians, a young couple and an elderly man, said they’d been playing here together, each Sunday night, for more than a decade. David Gillespie The British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) is pleased to announce that Robert Cooper and David Gillespie have been elected to the positions of Chair and Vice Chair respectively of the BCAA Board of Directors. Board elections took place at the board meeting following 8CAA‘s Annual General Meeting in late March. Robert Cooper has been a BCAA member since 1981, and has served on BCAA's Board of Directors since 1992, holding the position of Vice Chair since 1998. He also serves on the Council of Governors of the Canadian Automobile Association. He is President and owner of R. j. Cooper Construction in Prince George, and is a member and Past President of the Rotary Club in Prince George. Previously, he was a Director of the Prince George Construction Association, an active member in the Prince George Minor Hockey and Lacrosse Associations, and a member-of the Executive Committee and Board of Governors of Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver island. He replaces Dan Smithson as Chair. David Gillespie was first elected to BCAA's Board of Directors in 1991, and has served on the Finance and Investment, Board. Governance and Audit Committees.
