cor West Vancouver Parks and Recreation, the 90’s has

been a long and sometimes challenging search for the
right mix and the right location for new and replacement
leisure facilities. Few years have gone by without a
facility planning process cither beginning or ending.
Standing on the verge of a new millennium, it somehow
seems fitting that the hard work of numerous community
task forces, commissions and committees, and past and
present Council members is coming to fruition.

1999 has seen the endorsement of the Recreation
Facilities Master Plan and the appointment of a Standing
Committce of Council to advise on Master Plan recom-

mendations.

From June to year’s end,
® renovation of the Ice Arena has been approved,
® School Board and District sports ficlds have been
re-surfaced, improved or re-built,
®two major land use planning studies for the:
Gleneagles area and the Central Recreation
Center site have been initiated, and
