McCredie Twenty-five years ago today (Dec. 26), the pioneering news photographer Weegee died in New York City. Born Usher H.° Fellig in Poland, he emigrated to America - in 1910. The name Weegee was adopted in about 1938, because- of ‘his uncanny knack of arriving at the scene of an accident. Fellig was.so remark- able: that it was thought that he had some direct line to a greater, power, such. as via the clair- voyant’s ouija board.
