Affordable housing grants
awarded in ACT program

NINE PROPOSALS to help
improve housing affor-
dability have received grants
under the Affordability and
Choice Today (ACT) pro-
gram, according to Elmer
Mackay, Minister Respon-
sible for Canada Mortgage
and Housing Corporation
(CMHC).

The successful applicants
in the fifth round are:
@ 1. Martin Liefhebber,
Architect. Inc., Toronto.
Ontario: $19,000 for a pro-

proval to construct the
award winning three-storey
infill dwelling from the re-
vem CMHC Healthy Hous-
ing Design Competition,
@® 2. Wynvor Contracting
Inc., St. Thomas, Ontario:
$20,000 for a propusal to
design and assess the feasi-
bility of constructing a
six-unit, apartment building
for seniors in a downtown
residential neighborhood in
St. Thomas.

@ 3. Affordable Housing
Association of Nova Scotia,

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia:
$10,000 for a proposal to
develop recommendations
on revisions to the Nova
Scotia Planning Act and
regulations to enable
municipalities to provide
greater choice and affor-
dability in housing.

Alberta: $9,000 for a pro-
posal to expedite the ap-
proval process of producing
