The bite work, or protection work as it is sometimes called, is held on Aug. 1. It involves three different scenarios. In each case the dog is tested in his ability to seek out a suspect and pursue him, If the dogs don’t stop pursuit when called off the team receives an automatic zero. The last event of the dog com- petition is the box search in which the dog has 100 seconds to fiud a suspect who is hidden behind one of five boxes.
