22 ~ Friday, Jaly 21, 1989 - North Shore News AN EDMUNDS, Wash. native, Ed Freutel, recorded a second victory in his Crossle at Westwood Motorsport Park recently in the Canon/Yokohama Challenge for Formula 1600 cars. The win moves him into sole possession of first place in the points standings for the series, with 64 points. Running a strong race and finishing second, but unable to catch Freutel, was John Thompson Calgary driving the Calgary Copier Van Dieman. Third was Marty Knoll of North Vancouver in a Van Dieman for Al Dyke Auto; and fourth was Graham Mariacci of Calgary in his Sabre Racing Reynard. In fifth was Bob Leitch of Calgary in a Reynard; sixth was Andrew Davis of Vancouver in a Tiga; seventh was Dean Strashok, Mariacci’s team-mate, also in a Reynard; and Darren Turner of Kelowna, B.C. was eighth in a Bowin. Rounding out the field was the Elden of Brad Smith of Langley in ninth; Scott Cresey of Vancouver in a Crossle was in 10th; and Basil Koziak from Edmonton was [1th in his Lola.
