Shopping Guide

EVERY WEDNESDAY between
Nov. 9 and Jan. 11, the Christmas
News/New Year’s News will
publish a weekly shopping guide to
North Shore shopping malls.

If your store is holding special
Christmas events, like a visit from
Santa, or a yearly Christmas sale,
send a written submission in-
cluding appropriate date and time
to Christmas News, c/o the North
Shore News, 1130 Lonsdale Ave.,
North Vancouver, V7M 2H4, or
drop off a press release to the
News office.

New Christmas shopping hours
should also be included in any in-
formation.

Below is a schedule of stores
holding special Christmas events.

LOCAL YOUNGSTERS have a
chance to tell the North Show
News what Christmas means to
them and to share those warm,
happy feelings with others.

In appreciation of the young
writers’ efforts, a total of $200 in
prizes will be awarded to lucky en-
tries in the News’ What Christmas
Means to Me contest.

North Shore elementary school
Students should tell the North
Shore News how they feel about
Christmas — mayhe something ex-
tra special happened to them on
that day, or maybe they enjoy the
sharing ar.d warmth of the holiday
season.

All entries — up fo a maximum
of 250 words in length — must be
typed or neatly hand-written and
sent by Dec. 21 to What Christmas
Means to Me contest, c/o the
North Shore News, 1139 Lonsdale
Ave., North Vancouver, B.C.
V7M 2H4.

Entries must include name, ad-
dress, age, school and telephone
number.

Excerpts from entries will be
published in the Christmas
News/New Year’s News supple-
ment starting Dec. 7; winners will
be published on Jan. 11, 1989.

entertainers, including balloon
animals and puppets will be at the
north mall on Dec. 2 at 1, 4, and
7 p.m.; on Dec. 3 at 11 a.m., I
and 3 p.m., and again on Dee. 4 at
I and 3 p.m.

© On Dec. 8 The Capilano Chorus
will perform in the south mall at 7
p.m,

© The North West Opera in the
south mail on Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.
and the Summer Pops Orchestra in
the north mall at 2.pm.

e On Dec. 11 the Handel
Christmas Carollers will sing in the
north mall at 2:30 p.m.

* From Dec. 12 to 23 the Strolling
Minstrels will perform from 6:30
to 8:30 p.m.

Community School will be in the
south mall at 6:30 p.m.

* The Capliano Chorus will] per-
form again on Dec. 15 in the north
mall at 7 p.m. The Quatro Voici
singers will be in the north and
south malls from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

© On Dec. 17 children’s entertainer
Joey Hanion puts on his show in
the south mall at 10:30 a.m. and
again in the north mall at 11:30
p.m.
