In fact, all these months-of-this and months-of-that are only designed to underline the impor- tance of certain aspects of our in- dividual or collective existence. That's exactly what Nutrition Month is all about: to stress the importance of wholesome food for you and all members of the family, twelve months of the year. And to let you know about the facts about nutrition. “But why single out March?" you may ask. Frankly, I have no idea. Perhaps it’s the only time without a Fire Prevention, a Highway Safety or any other such month. In any case, March comes at the right time, just when our thoughts are turning to fast year’s bathing suit and this year’s girth. During all of March, those who know best how we should eat — the dietitians — will do all they can to acquaint us with the advantages of proper nourishment and with various ways of improving our eating habits. Using ‘‘Eat Well, Live Well’’ as their theme, these nutrition experts will give us hints, information and little tricks to help us eat well and feel better. Their words of wisdom will be on radio and television and in the newspapers. Furthermore, if you wish to consult a dietitian about your nutrition, it’s easy: call a hospital, a health department, clinic, or even your provincial dietitians’ association. During March, Participaction will tell active people how they can eat better. We will try to dispel some fallacies about food and we will explain how you may lose larch weight without risking your health. “This is all very well,"’ you may say, ‘‘but what has Pariicipaction got to do with all! this?” The answer is easy. For the same reason that eating well is not enough to maintain good health unless you are also active physi- cally, it is also a waste of time to exercise unless you eat sensibly. Nourishment and physical activity go hand in hand. Prepared by Participaction in col- laboration with The Canadian Dietetic Association.
