This is to be acheived by designating the alpine area a development ‘permit, which will give council the power to control any substantial By ROSS MEEK development within the area. The plan recommends that permanent private residential dwellings shall only be per- ‘mitted in the designated rural residential areas and be limited to existing com- munities on Indain Arm; that recreational cabins shall be limited to the designated forest recreation areas; and that permanent occupation of houseboats or vessels shall be prohibited. MINENG PROHIBITED It also suggests ‘‘mining shall not be permitted in a conservation, water supply, or wilderness recreation area.” Mining is further discouraged by the statement “road censtruction for min- ing or mineral exploration purposes in the Upper Lynn Valley shall be prohibited for environmental reasons."’ : Forum to discuss” WATER USE conflicts, created by the rapidly ex- panding aquaculture in- dustry on the Pacific coast, will be discussed: in a free forum at the University of British Columbia.
