Testing underway on North Shore

Nearly 200 North Shore businessess and homes
will have a chance in the coming months to try out
a new system of total electronic protection against
fire, burglary and medical emergencies developed
by B.C. Telephone Company — and all for free
apart from the cost of sensors and detectors.

So far, so good. But why is
B.C. Tel offering Sen-
tryphone to North Shore
customers?

Jim MaclInnes, B.C. Tel’s
marketing vice-president,
has the answer:

“Sentryphone is not yet a
product offering. We want to
try the service in the field
before offering Sentryphone
to the public in 1981, and
that’s why we're offering the
system initially to 200
customers ”

North Shore because the
area offers a good cross-
section of residence and
