A TRUST fund has been set up for burn victim Mike
Pinette, by some of the parents of his baseball team.

The 13-year-old North Vancouver boy wuffered
serious burns to 65 per cent of his body in a house fire
in July.

Kathy Chute, the wife of Pinette's baseball coach
Larry, has organized a fund with parents Diane
Nelson and Claudia Hayes through the Bank of Mon-
treal.

“We're hoping to be able to help the parents offset
some of the medical expenses not covered by (the B.C.
Medical Plan), and to pay for any special training he
may need,” said Chute.

“A fot depends on how Michael himself comes
along, but our immediat? goal is to raise $5,000."'

Chute said approsimately $2,100 will be needed for
Pinete to attend G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre
for the next year; taking into account the $8.50 daily

charge.

Pinette transferred to the centre last week, after he
was released from Vancouver General Hospital’s burn
unit.

Chute said other costs include medication, special
splints and masks to decrease scarring.

She said the Kinsmen Club has agreed to pay for a
special body suit, called a Jobst Compression Gar-
ment, which is also to help decrease scarring. It’s
estimated Pinette will need four such suits during the
yeur.

“Pm really hoping there will he a lot of support
from peonte on the North Shore. It’s definitely wor-
thwhile.

Pinette played shortstop on the team, in the Joe
Schae Baseball League, before the accident.

Chute said all branches of the Bank of Montreal are
accepting donations to the Michael Pinette Trust Fund.
