BILLED as a bigger and better ver-
sion of an already successful produc-
tion, Mediocre Expectations is back at
Presentation House for another run.

It opens on Oct. 1 and runs through to
Oct, Y1 after initially opening at the same

senue in 1996 when it was in littl more than
workshop form,

“[t started off as a series of short sketches,”
remembered Grant Hunter who co-wrote the
production. “It started as a stand-up and then
we let it fall and chen [lowered my expecta-
tions — it used to be called Great Expectations
—- and called it Mediocre Expectations.”

Anchoring its upcoming run is 2 special gala
performance on Saturday, Oct. + with benefits

going to A Loving Spoontul, a group which
provides tree meals to people living with HIV
and AIDS.

“Ir (the gala pertormance) was our chance
to de a good benefit for a great cause,”
explained Hunter.

Another writer contributing to the produc-
tion was West Vancouver's Braden Cayce who
may be best knewn to West Vancouverites as
the owner of Shear West Hairstyling in

Ambleside. But said Cavee his heart was always
chewhere.

“Musical theatre and film is something J
always wanted to get into,” he said.

The fact Hunter is his roommate no doubr
helped as they fed off cach other during the
creative process. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. gala
performance cost $40 and can be purchased by
calling 990-3474. All other performances start
at $ p.m. and cost $15.
