is Stroke Awareness Month.
The North Shore Stroke
Recovery Centre (NSSKC),
which offers support and
assistance for people who
have had a stroke, reports
that some of the warning
signs of a stroke are: weak-
ness in the arms or legs; tem-
porary loss of speech or
vision, and severe headaches.
People with these symptoms
are advised to contact a dac-
tor, NSSRC holds support
group meetings on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and
Thursdays from 10a.m, to 2
p.m. The centre’s self-help
group offers encouragement
to members as well as speech-
management classes, physical
exercise sessions, mind-chal-
lenging games and activities,
cratts workshops, caregiver
support meetings and out-
ings, and plenty of opportu-
nity to make new friends, For
