INV teachers consider escalated job action

School Board (NVSB) are involy-
ed in contract talks. The union
has been without a contract since
June 30, 1992.

NVTA president: Linda Watson
said her members arg frustrated at
how leng it is taking to reach a
new collective agreement.

Watson said the union has
submitied a set of proposals to the
school board. NVSB negotiators
will review the package today.

Meanwhile the union is con-
ducting @ paper strike against the
NYVSB.

“The way it's (negotiations) yo-

(NVSB) still want to split part of
our contract,’” said Watson,

She said the NVSB is seeking
concessions on. class-size and on
provisions for special-education
aides, counsellors, teacher-
librarians and learning-assistance
teachers.

In April, the NVTA voted 81%
in favor of strike action to back

In an April ll News story,
NVSB chairman Don Bell said the
school district has not been
granted an increase in funding
from the education ministry. Bell
said the school district has instead
experienced a net decrease.
