NORTH VANCOUVER
resident Heinz Griese has
his local lottery retailer to
thank for the unexpected
$50,000 prize he recently
won on a BC/49 draw.

Griese had purchased a $4
BC/49 ticket from Comfort Con-
venience store in North Vancouver
for the April 4 draw. On the
Saturday night after the draw,
Griese thought he had matched
three winning numbers for a $10
prize.

“] had taken my ticket in
yesterday morning to the store,"
said Griese. ‘I thought I had
matched three numbers, and I told
Steve (the retailer) at the time it
was only $10. He was busy so he
gave me the money right away.”’

After checking the winning
ticket in the lottery terminal the
retailer soon discovered the ticket
had in fact matched five winning
numbers plus the bonus for a
$50,000 prize.

Griese returned to the store the
following day to buy a package of
cigarettes.

“Steve was so glad to see me.
He said he had some good news
for me,’’ said Griese. ‘I’m sure
glad 1 had my name and address
on the back of the ticket.”*

He later collected his additional
$49,990 prize from the B.C. Lot-
tery Corp. office in Richmond.

“1 was so excited,’’ said Griese.
“| have had four | jhumbers right
and some $10 wins.’

Griese, a retired superintendent,
plans to share his winnings with
his family.
