20 - Sunday, December 31, 1989 - North Shore News LIFESTYLES Meet your guests at the door DEAR MISS MANNERS — I live in a secure building which contains eight apart- ments. When guests arrive, they must first ring my apartment from the front door. I may then use the in- tercom system to allow the guests to announce themselves, and I then elec- tronically unlock the en- trance from my apartment. This seems to be somewhat in- hospitable, as the guests must then find their way up a flight of stairs and through a series of doors. Should I be greeting them at the docr and saving the intercom for package deliveries? SE miss manners Judith Martin (EC GENTLE READER — While appreciating your hospitable inten- tions, Miss Manners believes it su- perfluous for you to greet your guests in the lobby.
