LGH ladies top fund raisers

Members of the Auxiliary
to Lions Gate Hospital once
again are leading the way as
fund-raisers on the North
Shore.

Last March they pledged
to raise $200,000 in two
years to help purchase a new
CT Scanner for the hospital.
This week, Auxiliary
President Sharon Larson
announced they have raised
$136,000 towards this goal.

Their pledge came about
because the hospital wished
to purchase a CT Scanner to
serve the citizens of the
North Shore The CT

images of the brain or other
body organs. The clarity of
the pictures 1s never seen
with ordinary X-ray.

When the Auxiliary board
learned that patients of
Lions Gate Hospital had to
walt sometimes for weeks to

use the scanner at the
Vancouver General
Hospital, they resolved to

get one for the North Shore.

Medical staff at the
hospital are dehghted with
the initiative shown by the
auxiliary Dr Frank
Sigurdson. president of the
medical staff, notes uhat the

Auxilary has led the way in
providing diagnostic and
treatment equipment. Two
years ago, they led off the
highly successful fund-
raising drive for the new
Children’s Floor.

as well as equipment to the
hospital.

Funds are raised in many
ways. The Thnft Shop on
Lonsdale has raised money
over the last 20 years. It sells
good second-hand clothing
and other used items

extra source of income. Mrs.
Larson and Mrs. Daniels
both were quick to point out
that the Dogwood Shop is an
ideal place to find flowers or
a book when visiting a
patient. It is also an all-
round gift shop. Profits go to
the Auxiliary fund.
