In 1974, Terry married and moved to Ucluelet on Vancouver Island, and in 1977, he and his wife moved to North Vancouver. One year later Terry began work at the North Shore News photography department, which then consisted of only two photographers. For the past 10 years he has been photography manager, and today oversees a department which has grown to include three full-time and two part-time photographers, and a dark room technician. During his years at the News, Terry has received various awards in 14 newspaper photography con- tests. Having no formal training in photography, Terry always had a 3 camera with him as a child, and sustained a deep love for the art. She graduated from North Vancouver high school, married, and today has a family of four. Val worked as a part-time coor- dinator for the B.C. Heart Foun- dation’s North Shore branch, and as a manager for Statistics Canada. In [983 she joined the News as subscriptions manager, and six months later, was pro- moted to classified manager. That department has since grown from a staff of eight to 20 employees to- day. When she’s not working, Val is busy as executive of the West Van- couver Otters Swim Club. She is active in politics and is currently a director of the Lions Gate Medical Research Foundation. “=i DORINDA EMERY . For two years Bruce developed accounts in the Lonsdale area until 1988, when he was promoted to the position of advertising manager of the North Shore News’ three new neighborhood papers — the West Vancouver Villager, the. Lynn Valley Echo and the Capilano Chronicle. DORINDA WAS bom in England and grew up in Lethbridge, Alber- ta. Completing college in Van- couver, Dorinda worked briefly, then left her job to take care of her three childrei:. She was a volunteer fund-raising coordinator for sev- eral organizations. Dorinda re-entered the workiotce snd for the past !0 years, has i:eld senior management positioss with national sales cor- perations in marketing, public relations and sales training capacities. With her family grown up, Dorinda decided to return to B.C., and joined the News in a tem- porary capacity in September 1988 as promotions manager.
