2 - Wednesday, November 23, 1988 - North Shore News UNANIMOUS NVD COUN:7IL SUPPORT Winter club tower approved THE HIGHRISE development proposed for the North Shore Winter Club will go ahead as a result of the third reading of the rezoning bylaw receiving unanimous support by North Vancouver District Council at Monday evening’s special council meeting. Three amendments were agreed to by both parties, altering the bylaw slightly from the one that passed second reading Nov. 7. As previously chronicled in the News, the Winter Club, in con- junction with Co-Operators Development Corp. Ltd., had ap- plied for rezoning in order to build an 18-storey congregate care facili- ty for active seniors on its site at Keith Road and Mountain High- way adjacent to Bridgman Park. The amendments will result in a decrease in the height of the building from approximately 180 feet to 168 feet inclusive of the elevator penthouse, and a reduc- tion in the number of apartments from 210 to 182. The resulting building will con- sist of: * one parking level partially above grade. * one parking level fully abov grade, * one residential amenity floor. * 12 residential floors of 14 suites. * two penthouse floors. There is no provision for any sort of residential care, but mon- thly meal packages may be bought from the Winter Club. All residents will pay a fee to enjoy full use of all club facilities. Ald. Craig Clark described the proposal as a ‘‘good concept for active seniors.’” Adoption of the bylaw will not proceed until a covenant between the district and the developers has been signed and registered against title.
