TEXTURED COLOR Paint can decorating dilemma ARE YOU in a ‘‘decorating dilemma?’’ The colorful, im- aginative use of textured paint could be the answer. After it is brushed on, this paint can be simply and easily designed so that it enhances and complements the style and feeling of almost any room in the house. It is also useful for effectively disguis ing walls that contain surface imperfections. Any instrument can be us- ed to pattern the paint before it dries. Try a comb, a piece of cardboard, or even a feather. For a stucco ap- pearance, use a paint roller intended for use with tex- tured paint. Combine two complemen- tary colors by making a ran- dom pattern or design in the wet paint using an-— un- sharpened pencil. After the paint dries, fill in the impres- sions with a slightly deeper shade of the wall color or a preferred shade. Textured paint is available in red, green, gold, tan and white, and in a variety of grains from coarse to fine. Textured paints can also be covered with flat latex wall paint to blend with your par- ticular design scheme.
