and early 30’s flocked to the
auditorium to hear Sada sing
the hit record.

“Basically, it’s a love song
to the wife,” Sada’s
manager, Noriyasu Anzai,

said in an interview. “It says —

the husband will work hard
for his family and the wife
should work hard at home.
It’s not that the husband is
stronger than the wife. They
have different work to do.”

“Almost all women agree
with this song in their heart,”
Anzai said. “Maybe the
relationship of a husband
and wife is old-style, but
women hope for a husband
like this. If a husband
declares himself the master,
that husband has confidence
and power.”

Pioncer -Corp., the record's
distributor, said the com-
pany’s average hit single sclls

women in Japan has im-
proved considerably since
World War II, they account
for only about 5 percent of
managerial jobs. And the
average wage for women is
only 58 percent of a man’s
