New thrill ‘ride at Tillicum

Traversing the’ ‘winter
slopes of Tillicurn Valley just
outside of Vérnon, on
everything from skis to inner
tubes, has been a favorite
pastime of Vernon residents
and visitors for several years.
This season the management
have added a new attraction, a

spring; summer and fall
months.
' A new chairlift, which

transports skiers up the
mountain during the winter
months, is used to carry
Alpine Slide riders to the top of
the slide. Riders come down
the sHde on a plastic sled. A

moderate climate, large
visitor population and good
management, has made
Penticton, B.C., the home of
one of the most successful
game farms in the world.

more than 115 species of
animals from around the
world, at the Okanagan Game
Living under
conditions that are as close to
Natural as possible, the
animais do. not develop the

_neurotic habits of animals

closely confined in zoos. Large
__paddocks, most several acres
in size, allow the ‘animals to
move about freely. Under
these conditions ithe. animals
-tend to propagate. Each year

offspring are born to nearly:

While many rare animals
such as white rhinos, giraffes
and siberian tigers draw much

their speed as they follow the
terrain-tailored track down
the mountain.
