Cougar alert THE NORTH Vancouver RCMP issued a warning to parents Tharsday after a constable recently confronted a cougar at Greenwood Perk near East 23rd Street and _Grand Boulevard. ; Const. Ken Cox, a new recruit at the detachment, : spotted the cougar in some bushes at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. The animal did not retreat when confronted by the i constable, who was on foot patrol, said North Van- couver RCMP Const. Marty Blais. Blais said there were two small children in the park at the time of the cougar sighting. Cox subsequently escorted several people, including the children, out of the park. The cougar was not captured. Goose got; dog shot A DOG and a Canada goose suffered injuries during a shooting incident in West Vancouver on Thursday. _ A West Vancouver Police Department spokesman said a man was walking two dogs in the Copper Cove area between Whytecliff Park and Horseshoe Bay when one ‘of the dogs spotted a Canada goose and gave chase. . The police spokesman said a Springer spaniel flushed ike bird out onto the road. “Then someone reported hearing cracking sounds like firecrackers going off. “This fellow’s other dog, a Siberian husky, was found © bleeding from the left rear leg,” said the police spokesman. The dog, be said, had been shot with a pellet gun. A confrontation. between the dog owner and the Cansda goose owner ensued. “The bird was transported to the ‘vet for unknown in- . juries,” said the spokesman.
