By Layne Christensen Community Reporter WANS of The Antiques Roadshow should iake note that West Vancouver’s Museum and Archives is staging its own version of the popular British TV show. North Shore residents are invited to drop in to the museum tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 21, between 2 and 4 p.m. to take part in Collectibles! — an antiques identification and care clinic. Two antique dealers will be on hand to evaluate family heirlooms and acquired pieces — Carmen Roré of Ambleside’s Carmen Boré Antiques Ltd. and Yarrnila Smekal of Dundarave’s Bohemia Antiques. Boré was trained in France, and her expertise extends to china, silver, bronze and French furniture and jewelry Smekal, a native of Prague, is knowledgeable i in small collectibles and larger pieces. Event organizers are asking that par- ticipants bring a maximum of two items for evaluation. Photographs should be substituted for large items. Museum assistant Deborah Tuyttens says the clinic is a great way to find out about an antique’s origin if, for example, you have a snuff box given to you by Great Aunt So-and-so and all you know about it is that it is “old.” “Bur that doesn’t mean people can't bring in 20th century ‘collectibles’ like their °50s toaster,” she adds.
