Sunday, June §: Above Average
Players present The Closet Doors
Fashion Show. Many of the
Vancouver area’s best actors will
model renewed fashions from
stores like Cabbages and Kinx,
Legends and The Front, as well as
fashions by up-and-coming design-
ers. The event isa fundraiser to
help send the musical comedy B
Average to New York City for the
Unity °94 Cultural Festival. The
show will fake place at
Performance Works (next to the
Granville Island Hotel) on
Granville Island. Doars open at 7
p.m., with the show starting at 8:30
p.m. Tickets at the door are $15.

Saturday, June 25: Meet jewelry
designer Richard Schelb and beau-
ty consultant Dale Lewis from 1 to
4 pom. at the Coriander Boutique,
2044 Park Royal South, upstairs in
the fashion gallery. Schelb designs
for celebrities, and will be showing
his wedding collection, his latest
crystal collection and his most
elaborate pearl collection yet.
Lewis, who is also a fashion model
and wardrobe consultant, will help
people with their wardrobes. For

designer to appear
in national exhibit

NORTH VANCOUVER'S Nyella
Mehaidtli is one of only five B.C.
jewelry designers chosen to appear
in the national diamond exhibition
“Beyond Tradition: A Union Of
Diamonds and Craft.”

The challenge presented to the
designers was to create unique yet
wearable women's jewelry, com-
bining diamonds and gold and sil-
ver with innovative craft materials

such as glass, wood, synthetic .

materials and clay.

The Diamond Information
Centre, the sponsor of the event,
hoped the competition would dis-
play the timelessness and versatility
of diamonds.

The exhibit will open with a
gala opening-night party at the
Canadian Craft Museum on June 16
at 6 p.m. Tickets for the fun-filled
evening, featuring a complimentary

martini bar, hors d'ocuvre and door
prizes, are $60 including GST. An
exhibition and sale of pieces by
Canadian craft artists will also take
place to benefit the Canadian Craft
Museum. ;

The show will run from June 17
until July 10 before travelling to
jewelers, craft facilities and muse-
ums throughout the country.

The Canadian Craft Museum is
located at 639 Hornby St.,,in
