Lions Gate Bridge receives refit

THE DECK of the Lions Gate
Bridge is being reinforced as
part of an on-going program to
ensure the structural integrity
of the bridge.

The announcement was made
March 10 by Transportation and
Highways Minister Jackic Pement
and North Vancouver-Lonsdale
MLA David Schreck.

A $296,960 contract has been
awarded to Surespan Construction
Ltd. of West Vancouver for the
bridge deck reinforcement project.
The work will include the supply
and installation of new steel braces
on the deck stringers and deck tce-

Total project costs are $397,960
including materials, engineering
and supervision provided by the
ministry.

“The future of Lions Gate
Bridge is the subject of a compre-
hensive consultation process,” said
Pement.

“Until a decision is made on the
future of the bridge and the option
selected is constructed, the ministry
will keep the bridge in a good state
of repair.

nical panels found all proposed tun-
nel and four to six-lane bridge reha-
bilitation options technically viable.
