“The number of female AIDS
cases now represents over 5.5% of
all. Canadian AIDS cases,” said
Ricketts.

She further pointed out that the
true number of cases in Canada is
inevitably underestimated due to
factors’ that include under-
diagnosis, delayed reporting and
under-reporting.

The centre for disease control
projects that a cumulative total of

12,000 Canadians had likely de- -

veloped AIDS by the end of 1992,

of which an estimated 4,000 had~

not yet been reported.
