HOLLYWOOD'S PRETTY Joanna Kerns, the star of the television series, Grow- ing Pains, will return to North Vancouver shortly. Joy Metcalfe JOY TELLS ALL She'll be in town to headline the mystery movie, Season of Fear, foc Michael Rhodes’ 10.4 Productions out of Los Angeles, which will be done out of the North Shore Film Studios. Michael and his crew were the people injured in that plane crash in Comox, and filming was delayed until this week. The little sidebar on this story is that Michael is the ex-husband of PR lady Niaa Rhodes, who’s the happy spark plug behind the North Shore News/ Heatherington's-sponsored annual fashion event with lifestyle guru, Robert Pante. The rest of the news from bub- bly Nina is that she and her fiance, David Hughes, will tie the knot officially in a wedding in Stanley Park’s Rose garden in late July. Nina’s latest project was ‘*Ciamentine’s Day,”’ a pro- gressive dinner that she organized to promote two of Bud Kanke’s restaurants and to introduce his latest venture. Bud Kanke, Robert Lasince and chef Regis Chung were our hosts at this unique affair where we travelled by Greyline bus from one restaurant to another. Our hostess, Dotty Kanke, was in painted-on black and as vivacious as ever! Bud squeezed into his very ight shirt and trousers and the same platform shoes that he wore when he opened the Cannery in 1971. Then it was off to the very-in Joe Fortes, which has become one of the hot meeting places, where we enjoyed more food and fun, and I had my first and probably last martini! We were all given lottery tick- ets, pearl-breeding oysters and disposable cameras, in order to capture the most incriminating moments. Our Timothy Renshaw and his missus were featured prominently. Then it was on the bus where we were entertained by the TheatreSports actors for a drive into Stanley Park for the cfficial opening dinner party for Bud's new Fish House. We were treated to a great four-course meal — lobster, crab and shrimp salad, clam chowder, a Jovely seafood brochette, and mile-high fresh fruit meringue a la HIMIE KOSHEVOY... drop him get-well fine. mode. I always remember Himie's puns after the first go-round of operations when he learned that he was to receive the valve of a pig.
