Mary Collins, Associate Minister of National Defence and Capilano- Howe Sound MP, recently an- nounced the Canadian Jobs Strat- egy funding of $312,306 for the project. Said Collins: ‘‘This project will help ready the participants for the challenge of today’s labor market through a combination of training, practical experience and support mechanisms.” The Job Entry project, which will be geared towards single parents, will include five months of training in life skills, work skills and job search techniques. Indi- viduals will design their own plan to include training, recreation and work experience goals. The participants will attend trial work placements while receiving additional counselling and the pro- ject staff will continue to provide support for a minimum of six months following graduation.
