RCMP are warning
North Shore residents
that a longstanding
Nigerian fraud scheme

has taken to the
Internet.

Relying on greed and gulli-
bility to draw victims in, and
fear of reprisal to keep them in
line, this plague has irritated
the business community royal-
ly, police say.

However, unlike Calgary,
where victims are estimated to
have coughed up over $2 mil-
lion, B.C. business has consis-
tently put the offers where they
belong — in the waste basket.

Businesses are well aware of

the Nigerian Letter fraud
scam: it has been ongoing for a
few years. But recently, the
Nigerian letter has been arriv-
ing via e-mail.

If vou receive such an e-
mail, delete it and do not
respond. Do not let the

police advise.
