Grapevine Press of West Vancouver is sponsoring a fall series of wine education courses ranging from basic to specialty with Dr. Jamie Wallin. Dr. Wallin has given wine courses at the University of British Columbia for the past six years and has led wine tours to California and WHETHER your interests lie in politics or medicine, crafts or recreation, you’re pro- bably not alone and some- body has probably formed a club for people like you. The Club File in the Reference Department of the main Lynn Valley branch of North Vancouver District Library lists over 400 local clubs and associations, most of them based on the North Shore. Some of them are local chapters of larger organizations. He is also a Director of the Opimian Society, a cross-Canada wine club, and an Honorary Director of the Australian Wine Apprecia- tion Society. The first course in this series is an Imroduction to Wine, which will be held on six consecutive Tuesdays at 6 p.m. beginning September 25 at the Denman Hotel. Each evening will feature the is a valuable source of con- tracts for people seeking speakers, specialized infor- mation, or simply a group to share interests and experience with. It is important that infor- mation of this sort be kept current, and the library is in the process of up-dating the cards now. The Wines of Australia will be presented at a two evening series Wednesday, October 3 and 10 at 6 p.m. at the University Club, 1021 West Hastings Street. The BACK TO SCHOOL cost is $38 per person. Components of Wine: A sensory Evaluation will be the subject of a one-night ses- sion on Wednesday, October 17 at 6 p.m. at the University. Club. Participants will be in- troduced to_the principal components of wine in- cluding a taste of tannin, tar- taric acid and sugar in various strengths, separately and in wine. The cost is $18 per person. A two-night series is plann- ed for Tuesday, November 13 and 20 to learn about the Wines of Italy. This will be held at the University Club at 6 p.m. and the cost is $38 per _% person. The fall series will con- clude with a Champagne and Sparkling Wine tasting November 25, with brunch to follow. The location is Bridges, Granville Island. It is planned to present 10 wines ranging from _ reasonably priced sparkling wines to stylish and pricey French champagnes. The cost is $39.50 per person. The subject of what food with which wines will be discussed at each session. The evening courses will be held from 6-8 p.m. so that participants may make din- ner plans following. .
