Vote to disarm

Dear Ednor:

“Mankind
with a choice: we must halt
the arms race and proceed

is confronted

to disarmament, or face
annihilation.” That was what
the United Nations “con-

cluded in 1978 at its Special _

Session on Disarmament.
Yet today, -four years

later, we are in the midst of

an arms race and closer to
nuclear annihilation than
ever before. :

That's why Operation
Dismante was launched ona
world wide scale. That's why
North Vancouver. District
Council has joined scores of
other Canadian. cities in
placing a disarmament
referendum before voters in
the November 20: municipal
elections. It is endorsed by
137 MP's of all parties and

literally hundreds | of
organizations. The cost of
the referendum in our

District is being met by
citizen groups.

I urge all voters to vote
“Yes” on this referendum. If
we and all other people |
the world make our views
unmistakably clear to the
policy-makers, peace will
vet prevail.

We have had the most
bewildering. frustrating
peried of our many years in
our shop. There have been
very good friends who have,
for our benefit. advised us to
give up our project -- that
our dream of an “inn” al
Sager’s was just a dream.

But vet other close friends
have encouraged us to carry

on and try to make it a
reality.

Regardléss. there has
always been one big

question: do you want us to
have vour village inn with its
pub licence housed in the
Maple Shop -- or do you not
want it?

feel we can add more charm
and interest to the Dun-

We have been most
flattered and honored to
have Len Norris's blessing
and approval in naming -- if
granted -- that section of the
shop “THE .TIDDLYCOVE
INN”. It could be the home
of some of his famous
characters. With all the
factors available. we feel
that we could blend them all
together and = the result
would give new blood and a
longer life to our heritage
building.

We do realize it would be
impossible to duplicate the
ald country habits. But, just
maybe, there are enough of
us in this community who
want a small spot in West

Vancouver where we can
feel comfortable and
develop our own charm as
has been done in England. I
am very sure that the young
people of West Vancouver
would like us older folks to
have our meeting place, too.

Capilano College

hiring administrators at the
expense of instructors,
which is what the Capilano
College board seems to be
doing, is like cutting off your
head to help you think.

When money. is so scarce,
