VIPs around at 120
km/h in an Indy pace
car or driving home the
“Just say no” message
to students regarding
drugs, Marybeth
Harrison brings passion
to everything she does.

On September 5, just
betore the Molson Indy race
hits the streets around
Concord Pacific Place,
Harrison will be driving a spe-
cially modified Dodge Viper
that will lead the pack.
Harrison was chosen after a
two day evaluation in che U.S.
as one of the PPG
Championship Auto Racing
Team (CART) drivers.

Making your mark in the
lower echelons of motorsport
racing can be difficult and at
times frustrating, but Harrison,
34, has been moving up the
ranks ftom karting to sedan
racing to her dream — open-
wheel formuls racing.

She won the Vancouver
Mini-Molson Indy race in
1995 and grabbed rookie of
the year in a sports sedan class
a year later. Now Harrison is
racing, Formula 1600 and in
Ontario, Formula 2000 cars,
scaled down versions of the
ultimate world class cosmopoli-
tan series — Formula One.

Albeit the races are short
with no pit stops, Harrison gets
to drive on some of the same
speedways as the pros when
