Wilson attributed Expo with having brought people to the area and made them more aware of Vancouver. “Now they’re coming back again,”’ she said. According to Wilson, there has been approximately a 20 per cent increase in volume of visitors to the suspension bridge from last year alone. lan Mackay, Grouse Mountain administrative manager, | also reported an increase close to 1986 levels, and agreed that Expo 86 had promoted 4 general awareness of Vancouver, ‘from where the North Shore is very visible.”” Mackay has been very pleased with a special bus route put on by B.C. (non- skier) traffic to Grouse Mountain in the winter. “They come up to enjoy the view, go to the restaurants or just play in the snow,” he said. Grouse Mountain has been busy promoting summer activities on the mountain with its Kodak Fami- ly Fun Days. There’s been strect entertainment, face painting and many other free activities, in- cluding the Adventure Playground. “People are staying on the mouniain longer,’’ Mackay said.
