North Vancouver District
Library will recreate the at-
mosphere of A Medieval
Christmas ‘at the Capilano Branch
on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

Harpist Gwyneth Evans and
actress/storyteller Melanie Ray
will come together to present the
music and stories of medieval
Europe.

Ray has been telling stories
professionally for 10 years, most
recently at the Vancouver Writer’s
Festival and the Rockwood
Storytelling Festival in Sechelt.

Evans is a college English
teacher from Duncan, and a
longtime player of both concert
and folk harp music.

The pair are old friends and
share a passion for all things me-
dieval. Melanie will tell a selection
of stories from Chaucer, the lays
af Marie de France, the Judeo-
Spanish tradition and Provence.

Gwyneth will accompany with
songs from medieval England and
France,and some hauntingly
beautiful sephardic music from
Spain.

The program will be at the
Capilano Library in Edgemont
Village on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at
7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 ($3 for
seniors), available in advance at
any branch of North Vancouver
District Library or at the door.
Appropriate refreshments will be
served.
