Film documents career

‘THE WEST Vancouver Baptist
Church will be showing ‘the
award-winning film, Dravecky: A
Story of Courage and Grace, Fri-
day, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Dravecky, one-time pitcher for
the San Francisco Giants, returned
to the team less than a year after
having half the deltoid muscle in
his pitching arm removed due to
cancer in October 1988.

Five days following his come-
back, he broke his arm while pit-
ching against the Expos at Mon-
treal’s Olympic Stadium. To make
matters worse, he broke it yet

again during a post-game celebra-
tion after his team picked up the
pennant.

The film documents Dravecky’s
career from his days in the Board-
man, Ohio Little League to his
highlights a3 a big-league player.

faced with a dilemma: whether to
choose her friendship

with Sockeye the Salmon or fall
prey to the order of life in the
ocean,

It is a difficult choice, and one,
thankfully, that sharks, pirahnas
and barracudas don’t have to
make on a regular basis. (Though
Jaws was kind of like a morality
tale, wasn’t it?)

The performers in the show
utilize a cast of fluorescent-toned
puppets brought te town with
voice, sound and movement.
