Alexon's Collection is introducing
several new themes ranging trom
classic to exotic.

The Tradewind line captures life
on board the elegant cruise ships
of a bygone era.

Jackets range from fitted,
longer designs and baxy shapes
with suede detail edging, to
sophisticated soft swing styles.
Trousers are slightly tapered and
skirts are cither straight with slit
pockets ard double pleats at the
back, or longer and fully pleated.
Colors include classic navy and
white, highlighted with turquoise.

Prints gre kept simple but
strong, sucn as a striking rope
print blouse with touches of gold
and turquoise. Knitwear reinforces
the ship-to-shore theme with bold
Stripes, gold buttons and em-
broidery.

fn the Rain Forest fine, Alexon
merges eucalyptus and petal pink.
Jackets, although discreetly
tailored, are softened by cut and
design. Crepe de chine watery
floral print blouses and long full
skirts make an elegant alternative
to the simple white scoop-neck
top.

A washed finish - safari-style
dress echoes the cool mood of the
Rain Forest.

The Longchamps line provides
the inspiration for occasion dress-
ing. Frisee green and petunia pink
contrast with black in a variety of
eye-catching prints. Bold black
and white polka dot culottes are
teamed with short sleeved shirts.
Bright floral separates in silky
fabrics and lace edged blouses
under fitted grosgrain suits are
ideal for special events.

The warm tones of spicy chilli
and turmeric create the mood of
the Spice Islands line where wide

natural linen trousers are worn
with safari-style jackets. Spice
colored geometric prints on crop-
ped and full length trousers coor-
dinate with simple linen patch
pocket shirts and are ideal for
holidays. Diaphanous printed
skirts add a feminine touch to this
travel-inspired collection.

ment the collection from Trade-
winds, through Longchamps to
Spice Islands.

Festival holds volunteer orientation meeting

ANYONE WISHING to become
involved with the B.C. Festival of
the Arts, held this year in the
District of North Vancouver from
May 22-26, should attend a volun-
freer orientation and registration
evening at Carson Graham School
gym on Tuesday (Apr. 23).

Festival organizers are looking
for about 1,000 people to volun-
teer in such areas as security,
public relations, food services,
clean-up, and as ushers for
specific events. They are also on
the lookout for drivers and vehi-
cles.

Interested parties should meet at
Carson Graham at 7:30 p.m. for
an overview of the festival and to
register for different tasks.
