North Shore
residents
graduate

FIVE NORTH and West Van-
couver women were among the 62
graduates who received their
degrees at the B.C. Open Univer-
sity convocation ccremonies at
Vancouver's Robson Square
Media Centre on March 15.

The North Shore residents
receiving degrees that day were
Gene Ladinski-Stephenson,
Katherine Moore, Carol
Dukowski, Sandra Azizi and
Donna Chan.

Ladinski-Stephenson, Moore
and Dukowski took advantage of
a credit transfer agreement be-
tween the Open University and the
Emily Carr College of Art and
Design to earn their bachelor of
fine art degrees.

Ladinski-Stephenson already
had a master’s degree in
psychology when she decided to
pursue her interest in photography
at the Emily Carr. She has return-
ed to the school to take a com-
puter animation course.

After graduation, Moore in-
tends to go on a_ six-mont!:
wilderness hike along the Ap-
palachian Trail. She'll be painting
along the wzy and plans to stari a
master’s degree when she returns.

Dukeowski has entered a two-
year art therapy program at the
Vancouver Art Therapy Institute.
Practical training at the institute
involves working with children
with behavioral problems, young
offenders and psychiatric patients.

Azizi already has post-secon-
dary education in Iran and Alber-
ta and took 1!4 Open University
programs to complete a bachelor
of arts degree in a general pro-
