Handsworth students win
in physics competition

NORTH VANCOUVER'S Hand-
sworth Secondary School managed
to beat our SS other B.C. high
schools to capture first place in
the 1991 Physics Olympics held
recently at the University of B.C.

The top physics students in the
province took part in the competi-
tion.

Caledonia Secondary School
from Terrace came in second,
foliowed by Lord Byng Secondary
School of Vancouver.

This year the students competed
in seven events that ranged from
pre-built mechanical devices such

as a mouse trap powered buildoz-
er to tests of physics knowledge
and quick thinking when con-
fronted with a problem or situa-
tion for the first time.

The Handsworth team members
included David Lee, Mark Follett,
Bill Neill, Bodo Littmann, Sarah
Gardiner, Catherine Hunter,
Alison Grigg and Ziba
Bozorgzadch.

North Vancouver's Argyle Sec-
ondary School won a gotd medal
in the optical maze event. The
school also won this event in
1986,
