The Under 18 West Van girls
led the North Shore assault
in the B.C. Youth Soccer
Associatign Provincial cup
quartep’ finals with a
devastating 5-1 win on the
weekend.

Local girls won four out of
the seven cup matches, tak-
ing the U18, U6, U14 and
U13 divisions.

Playing Saturday against
the Vancouver Cardinals,
the Amazons’ game was
marked by a solid team ef-
fort that proved to be
unstoppable. Simone Gould
scored twice, with centre
back Margo McKim’s steady
play a big factor in all goals.

The U16 Mount Seymour
Comets edged the Trafalgar
Terrors 2-1 to take their
quarter final Saturday. Con-
trolling the play throughout,

the Comets led from the
twelfth minute on, letting
the tie stand for only a few
short minutes. Many scoring
attempts were unsuccessful,
but had the worst happened,
_the local girls would have
“easily led on corner kicks.

Win number three last
weekend belonged to the
U14 North Van United squad
who blanked the Dunbar
Greenbeans 2-0. Jackie
Mudge picked up both goals,
with goalie Yvonne O'Neill
posting the shutout. wo

Wingérs Cally Hammes
and Dana Watts contributed
significantly to the victory,
the first at this level of play
for the new club.

And could it be deja vu for
the U13 West Van Cheetahs,
who took the fizz out of the
Kerrisdale Krush Sunday
with a 3-0 crunch? The

Good weather meant
great soccer last weekend
for hundreds of North Shore
boys and girls in the Youth
Soccer Association.

Catching up on the
schedule, some teams even
managed to squeeze in two

games m the best weekend ~

(weather-wise) this year. As
soon as enough games are
made up, standings will be
revised and published.

In the meantime, one
team which got left out of
the winner's circle in the re-
cent divisional champion-
ships was the U11 girls Lynn
Valley Cougars crew, who
won their Centennial Cup
final for the North Shore
with a 3-0 shutout over the
West Van T’Birds.

Dozen.
