SORES a egw fay wtatibay The largest open tennis tournament of the season will be held in North Vancouver next month with 29 different divisions open to players of all levels. The North Vancouver Public Parks Tennis Championships will be held from July 11 to 19 with the closing date for entries at noon on July 6. The event will also feature tournament number six in the British Columbia Tennis Assuciation (BCTA)- Nike Grand-Prix tennis circuit. The tournament is being sponsored by the Court House Racquet Sports company and is sanctioned by the BCTA Entry fees vary according to the division entered. Major tennis 29 different divisions Junior events will be held for men and women under 18 and under 16, and for boys and girls under 14 and under 12. Entry fees for all junior singles are $6. Adult divisions will in- clude men and women’s open, ‘B'C’,'X', Masters over 35, and in the men's division, Masters over 45, Entry fees are $17.50 for the open singles, $10 for the other events, and $2 for the class 'X" singles. Class 'X 1s for players who have never played in a tournament or won a round in a tournament, while class ‘Cis for inexperienced players. Doubles events will be held for men and women in the open, ‘B’‘C’, and masters divisions. There will also be a parent and child doubles event and a mixed ‘A’ and ‘B’ Sh ra Tel. 985-2131 category. Fees are $25 a team for the men’s open doubles, $9 a team for the parent and child players, and $12 a team for all other doubles. The draw for play will be available at the Court House West club from Thursday, July 9 from noon to 9 p.m. and on Friday, July 10. It will also be available by phone at 980-9444. Matches will be played from 5 p.m. until dark on Monday and Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until dark. Junior matches will start, Monday, July 13 and will be played from noon on. There is no limit to the number of events a player may center, but players must be prepared to play all matches when they are scheduled, and players more than 15 minutes late will be defaulted. If time and = weather permits there will be con- solation round for all first round losers, starting Wednesday, July 15. All matches will be the best two out of three sets with a 12 point tie breaker being used at six-all in every set. Play in the men’s grand prix qualifying rounds will commence Saturday, July 11, with the main draw commencing on Wednesday, July 15.
