Everything you see ina
scene, from the pencil on
the desk at which the actor
is sitting to the books lin-
ing the shelves, has been
carefully selected, pur-
chased and then placed on
the set by the set dresser or
decorator.

North Shore resident Jav
Bagshaw would know ~~ he
“dresses” or decoraies the set on

films or commercials. He started on the fim
Abstery Date, and since then has worked on
sarious TW series and films including Phe
Seatuuel, Millenatii, Pree Willy 3.
However, like many people in this busi

ness, Jay has a bit of a
love/hate reiationship with
his work, but with a little
persuasion, T managed to get
him to admit to the fact that
he actually does like his
work, as much as he docs
complain about it...

MV: You said you gota
call about work just the
other day?

JB: Yeah, it involved build-
ing some sets in Prince
George.

MV: For what?

JB: It’s a feature. I don’t
know. I don’t know what
they want.

MV: When?

JB: Well f think it goes to
camera in five weeks. I'm
going to a wedding in
Chicago, then Pil go
straight up to Prince George
after thac. Pm consuming
thousands of doliars by not
working. :

MV: So you’re a wealthy

man from doing “set dec”?

JB: I live like one, but I’m

certainly not one. I drink
fine wines...

MV: So doing set dec
allows you to drink fine
wines ...

JB: Ah yeah, it allows me to
do a lot of things, like go to
Chicago, fishing, golfing.
