PARK Royal Director and
General Manager Rick Amantea,
announced the end of an era
Monday as he presented plans for
a new 250,000-square-foot revi-
talization project that will forever
chanye the face of West Vancou-
ver’s popular shopping centre.

In an effort to bring some of the larger retail
stores to the North Shore, Amantea confirmed
that Home Depot, Toys R Us and PETsMART
will be built on the site now occupied by Park
Royal Cinemas, Park Royal Lanes and Park Royal
Golf Centre.

Park Royal will have spent approximately $45
million on the mall revitalization project when the
final phase is finished.

Calling the expansion a “carefully worked and
well-constructed plan,” Amantea anticipates
completion of the project by October 1998.

“Fronya retail perspective, it is imperative that we
have Phase IV complete and open for business
(because) the type of retailers we are dealing with
are time sensitive.

“North Shore residents are currently traveling
a great distance to get to those (stores). We're
going to keep it home for them so they don’t have
to worry about crossing bridges,” said Amantea.

An existing cinema, a bowling alley and a golf
driving range will be demolished.
