totem pole has been carved by
James Lewis and Wayne Carlick
to commemorate the life and times
of Mary Capilano, a local jegend
in both native and non-native

Medical oncologist to
speak to Bosom Buddies

DR. PLENDERLEITH will speak
at the. next meeting of Bosom
Buddies, a support group for
women who have experienced
breast cancer or breast disease.
Plenderleith is a medical on-
cologist and a clinical professor at
UBC. He has been with the
Cencer Clinic for almest 28 years,
was the first Head of Oncology of
the Cancer Agency, and Head of
Oncology at UBC and VGH.
Recently awarded the Dr. David
M. Bachop. gold medal for

distinguished medical service,
Plenderleith is a highly respected
senior member of the staff with an
enormous clinic load and thou-
