Burn awareness NORTH SHORE mayors have proclaimed Burn Awareness Week Feb. 7 to Feb. 13. The proclamation is part of a nationwide bura awareness campaign in Canada and the United States. There are more than 2.5 million burn injuries in the United States and Canada each year and thousands of deaths. ‘ Qver 7,000 people die from fire and burn injuries each year. Most succumb to smoke and flames in house fires before rescue personne] can reach them.
