The program allows a father and his child to build a close relation- ship by spending time having fun and doing things together. In ad- dition, it provides the opportunity to develop Criendships with other fathers and their children through group activities. A North American Indian theme has been adopted as the program structure. All Y-Indian Program members participate in small groups called tribes which usually consist of 7-10) father child teams. They meet at each other’s homes regularly throughout the school year for program activities. Local tribes are affiliated with other tribes as part of the Y-Indian nation, with a number of nation events throughout the year. The North Shore Y has been sponsoring these programs suc- cessfully for a number of years. Fathers and their sons can par- ticipate in the program as Indian Guides; fathers and their daugh- ters as Indian Princesses. An information meeting will be held at the West Vancouver YM- CA on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. For more information, con- tact Patty Clarke at 986-0388.
