Local bowls to
Pacific win

NORTH Vancouver lawn bowler
Bob Scullion...won bronze in
Papua, New Guinea.

BOB SCULLION, of the North
Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club,
captured a bronze medal in the
men's triples competition of
Canada in the !I-team Pacific
Lawn Bowls Championships held
in Papua, New Guinea, recently.

The second medal for Sullivan,
the local bowler also won a bronze
medal in the same event at the first
championships held at Tweed
Heads in the Australian region of
New South Wales in 1985.

The largest sporting competition
of its kind ever held in Papua,
New Guinea, the event was spon-
sored by the Mazda Motor Corp.
to a tune of $200,000.

Canada captured the silver
medal in the men’s pairs, and the
Canadian men’s team finished
third in the overall team placings.

The Canadian ladies triples team
won the bronze medal with Muriel
Holness of North Vancouver Lawn
Bowling Club as their manager.
