Senior drivers needed

SENIOR DRIVERS in West Van-
couver are being asked to par-
ticipate in a study by the Geron-
tology Research Ccnire at Simon
Fraser University.

Dr. Stephen Milstein, research
associate, said about 1,000 people
from ‘West Vancouver, White
Rock, Kelowna, Oak Bay and Vic-
toria will be interiewed for the
study, done in cooperation with
ICBC,

- He said 180 s seniors, over the age
’ of 56, will be chosen to take part.

The researchers want to obtain
seniors’ views on their reasons for
driving, driving habits, attitudes,

- concerns and expectations about
licensing.

The information will be gathered
through small group discussions at

- a central location or through per-
sonal interviews in the home.

A maximum of two hours dur-
ing the summer will be required
from participating seniors.

LOCAL INVESTORS BUY
Vancouver Wharves sold

NORTH VANCOUVER'S Van-
couver Wharves Lid. has been sold
by its U.S. owners to a group of
local investors.

The North Shore terminal,
which has five deep draft ship ber-
ths, handling and storage facilities
For 800,000 tonnes of sulphur,
potash and other bulk com-
modities, was sold by Stolt-Nielsen
Terminals to a9 group of manage-
ment partners that includes Van-
couver Wharves chairman David
Odhams, company president Harry
Wood, executive vice-president
John Mackay and former Stolt-
Nielsen vice-president Olav
Petersen.

The group purchased the facility
along with financial consultant
Michael Grey. The deal was com-
pleted May 8.

Purchase price was not released,
but Wood said the replacement
value of the existing equipment
was well over $100 million.

He predicted there would be no
radical change in the direction of
the company: ‘‘We will continue in
